National Lutheran School Accreditation helps parents confirm their choice of a school because accreditation is an assurance of quality. In 1986, The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod created a voluntary accreditation process to improve the quality of its schools. Accreditation assures parents that the school complies with national standards. It indicates the school’s commitment to on-going improvement. Parents can be certain that when a school is accredited by NLSA, it has been observed by a team of qualified educators, evaluated, and recognized as providing a quality Christian education experience.

What’s Special about NLSA?

Like most accrediting processes, NLSA has established a set of rigorous national standards that demonstrate school quality. Accredited schools must establish that they conform to required standards by completing an exhaustive self-study process. Even after a school has been accredited, school leaders must organize and implement a school improvement process that provides for ongoing improvement.

What are NCA CASI and SACS CASI?

Founded in 1895, the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI) and the Sothern Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI) are non-government organizations that accredit public and private schools and school districts in 30 states, the Navajo Nation, the Department of Defense Dependent's School, and Latin America.
